Place a crown or bridge

A crown or bridge is placed when a tooth is damaged or missing and it is therefore impossible to place a facing.

A crown replaces a damaged tooth. When a tooth is missing, a bridge is placed using the teeth next to the missing tooth, so the new tooth is firmly secured to the adjoining teeth.

Why place a crown or bridge?

As described above, a crown is placed when your tooth is damaged. A damaged tooth is not just cosmetically unpleasant, it can also cause pain. We treat this by replacing the damaged tooth with a crown that fits with the rest of your teeth.

A bridge is the solution for a missing tooth. Missing a tooth can be seen as uncomfortable and inconvenient. By using a bridge, you will have a new tooth that is firmly secured to the teeth next to it.

How does it work?

Placing a crown or bridge is done with different techniques. Depending on your situation, the dentist will discuss which possibilities are relevant for you. Regardless of the technique, we go through the following steps.

When you visit us with a damaged or missing tooth, we first do a thorough check of your teeth, to know whether there are any other things we should take into account or other problems we need to handle during the treatment.

As soon as we have a clear image of what needs to be treated exactly, we will discuss this with you in detail. We will discuss which choices have to be made and we will explain the up- and downsides of each option.

When we have chosen the exact treatment, we take several measurements to customize your crown or bridge, so we can place it afterwards.
